Hurricane Harvey Relief - An Invitation To Help Other Lutheran School Families
Dear St. John’s Families,
All of us have been impacted by the images of the devastation in the Houston area by Hurricane Harvey. There are many Lutheran schools like St. John’s in the Houston area that have families that have been affected by flooding. One particular school system is the Lutheran South Academy that operates three schools in the greater Houston area. In speaking to school officials, they are in the process of repairing their schools and receiving assistance from a variety of sources across the country. However, their families have been deeply impacted by flood damage to their homes. They would welcome gift cards to Target and Home Depot that would be given directly to families to help clean up and rebuild. This Friday’s chapel offering will be used to purchase gift cards that will be sent to the Westlake Academy community. Checks can be made out to “St. John’s Lutheran School” and will be accepted in the school office anytime through Monday. There are amazing stories from these schools of God’s provision and blessings even in dire circumstances. We feel compelled to use this as an opportunity to teach our students how we respond to challenging events like Hurricane Harvey. This timeline is tight because the need is “now.”
Thank you for your help in this project.
God’s peace - Mr. Peregoy
